Zero Plastic (Almost!)… And How We Turn the Transport Rules on Their Head.

I need to have a completely honest, friend-to-friend chat with you about shipping our heaviest, most valuable art pieces and oversized mountain planters.

To ship these larger, high-end treasures safely across the country, our transit insurers have a strict, non-negotiable rule: they must be wrapped in three full layers of plastic bubble wrap.

I won’t lie to you—the first time I read that guideline, it broke my Womble heart! It goes against everything we stand for at Make Love Not Landfill. But because these items take weeks of creative energy to shape and fire, the absolute worst environmental outcome would be for a piece to break in transit and end up destroyed.

So, if you order a larger, insured piece, it will arrive with plastic bubble wrap. I am so incredibly sorry about this, but here is how we can team up to beat the system and keep that plastic completely out of the landfill:
  • The Womble Reuse Challenge: Please do not throw that wrap away! Pop it in a cupboard and save it to wrap your own fragile items the next time you move house, pack a parcel for a friend, or store away your winter decorations.
  • Pass it Along: If you don’t need it, pass it to a local small business owner, an Etsy seller in your neighborhood, or post it for free on Facebook Marketplace or Olio. Local independent makers are always hunting for free packing materials!
  • Garden Protection: If you are a fellow proud gardener, heavy bubble wrap is fantastic for insulating outdoor terracotta pots or wrapping delicate plant stems to protect them from harsh winter frosts.

If you live nearby or fancy a beautiful trip to the valleys, I would absolutely love to skip the postman altogether.
